It's no secret that CSS is adding new features at a record rate – which is why we ended up asking about no less than 50 of them this year!
46
Total number of features in this year's shortened survey, compared to 63 in 2025.

:has(), aspect-ratio, and CSS Nesting are both the most-used and most-loved features mentioned in the survey.

Meanwhile, line-clamp once again got a lot of comments, most of them asking for a non-prefixed version of the feature. CSS Nesting also received its share of feedback, but unlike line-clamp almost all of it was positive.

The least-used features were Gap decorations and if(), no doubt due to limited browser support.

Speaking of browser support, one way to predict what CSS has in store for us is to look at the most-loved features with a “Limited Availability” Baseline status. In this case, both calc-size() and Anchor Positioning are being awaited with a lot of anticipation!

Sentiment

  • Positive: Respondents who are interested in learning more about a technology; or are willing to use it again.
  • Neutral: Responents who did not indicate any sentiment about a technology.
  • Negative: Respondents who are not interested in learning more about a technology; or have used it and had a negative experience.
22%
Year-over-year percentage increase in respondents who had heard about sibling-count().

Features Over Time

The fact that even with limited browser support, Anchor Positioning is still the item with the single largest year-over-year usage increase (+15%) goes to show how much developers have been waiting for this feature.

Looking a awareness, the feature boasting the largest increase (+23%) is sibling-count, which will hopefully soon be supported in all major browsers.

It's also always interesting to look at items with low appreciation. For example, contrast-color()'s -13% ratio means that positivty among respondents who have actually used the feature is that much lower than the same metric among those that have merely heard about it.

Danh sách đọc

The Reading List lets respondents save items to learn about them after completing the survey. Gap decorations was saved by 55% of all respondents, which makes sense as it promises to solve a common pain point that currently requires a lot of cumbersome workarounds.
